What do you pursue? When you meet the people you love, what do you pursue with them? What do you pursue with your family?
I know, unquestionably, all these things that I'm saying are much easier to say than do. No question about that. But that's where the card of consciousness comes in to be aware of what it is that I want to achieve in my life.
What credit would you give to the fact that you're alive, that you exist? That there is this gift. Yes, gift. Yes, gift of breath that comes into you, that fulfills you. That allows you to exist.
That you can think, you can understand, that you have a heart, that you can exercise kindness.
Are these not gifts? They are. And when these powers that we have become part of the plan of existence and randomness is pushed aside and your wellbeing, your well-'being' begins with the most fundamental things, what is the representation of that?
It's called the heart. Long time ago that was mentioned. Heart. And what does it mean?
The thing that beats? Goes thong, thong, thong, thong?
No. That one side of you that wants to be content. That one side of you that wants to feel alive. That one side of you that wants to feel gratitude.
The one side of you that wants to feel joy. That one side of you that wants to experience contentment. That one side of you that wants to remember all the good that has happened in your life. That one part of you that responds to you in kindness, in peace.
(Prem Rawat) When the breath comes into you, you are given the gift of life. Not the one that just was. No. Not the one that is going to be. No. The one that just came into you brings you the gift of life.
This is the most fundamental definition of 'present' because it is a present. It is a gift that came into you. You accepted it. You accept it, and when you do, it brings you the gift of life. Look at that.
There is no stale breath. For all the breaths that have been taken on this earth the one that just came into you, fresh. Not used, not abused, not stamped. Fresh! This is the possibility. Every single day to have that freshness. You've been given a gift. You've been given a gift. Accept it, take it.
Take it to your heart and do something with it when the heart is filled. When the heart is filled.
When a river flows it doesn't have to give water to anybody. Does it? Where does it say? Where does it say, "This river flows, and therefore this has to give water." No. It just gives.
Those animals come, it gives. It doesn't say, "Not you, not you, not you, not you. It just gives." "Anyone, come on. Here I am. If you're thirsty, if you are thirsty, drink." "Drink of me and quench your thirst."
When a lake gets full, when a well gets full, it gives. What is that? Do you really want to know the story? It is the story or one drop. The one drop.
Put this in perspective. One little drop that ascended into the sky, met together with the other little drops and floated by and it fell as one drop at a time. One drop at a time.
Would you really... Would you really look at a drop and say, "You will quench the thirst of millions?" "Never!" "Billions?" "Never!" But it does. It does. How it comes together, how it forms? It forms the mighty rivers, the lakes, the wells, and then, as though nothing ever happened, joins the ocean once again. But to stay that way? No.
To become a drop once again and fulfill the thirst of the many. So you see, when I say what I say to you, that drop is my witness that it is possible.
Prem Rawat:
Is peace still possible? Yes, peace is still possible. Is joy still there, yes; your heart is still there, yes. Is the infinite still around? Of course. And so far the infinite is around, you’re set! If the infinite is gone, then you’re in trouble. But the infinite is around, and you are around? It’s all good.
When I was in lockdown, (hah, hah-hah), a long time ago, I, you know, in the 80s, I had turntables. I had records. So, I said, “You know, I had these wonderful, beautiful records. Where are they?” And couldn’t find them, couldn’t find them, couldn’t find them, couldn’t find them, and then one day, way back tucked somewhere, there they were, all my records.
And I brought them out, started cleaning them. And there they were! They were something that I had gone, I had bought. Some of them had been unopened; they were unopened albums. And there they were from the 70s, all this incredible music and – there it is! I realized, “I’m not going to take it with me. But I’m going to enjoy it, so far I can enjoy it.”
This life, my friends, is about enjoyment. And if you can enjoy the divine, that’s the motherlode. Because there’s nothing like the divine. Always there. Always was. When you were one, when you were two, when you were three, when you were four, five, six, seven.
Isn’t it nice to discover something that is from a long time ago in your life that you liked, and it was wonderful? (Like my records?) Well, the infinite is like that. The infinite was there when you were one, and two, and three, and four, and five – all the way to however old you are.
I was talking to somebody whose mother passed away, and this person was you know, “What about this, what about that?”
And I said, “Look…” And this is something I said, even I liked it.
And I said, think of her as the earth and the moon. The moon came from the earth, and as it separated, it went out and it’s just there. It’s not part of the earth anymore, but it’s just there, going around this earth beautifully affecting it. Every night, every day, making the tides, the life, the motion. All you have to look up and see the reflection of the sun on this beautiful surface, glowing. Glowing.
For those who go, think of them the same way. Your little world, now they’re the moon and hopefully, they’re going to affect you in the most beautiful way that you will remember their memory, the tides, the life, the drama. And on those particular nights when it is really dark, they will glow and there’ll be a little light for you. Not only to admire but maybe see by.

Prem Rawat:
You have this most beautiful opportunity. And it begins—it begins with putting that weight that is on your shoulders down. Just put it down. And appreciate how light that makes you feel.
Enjoy being a human being. Enjoy. Do not look at yourself to assess your faults. But look at yourself to discover your opportunities. Because you’re alive, you have been given opportunities. You want to go for a walk?! Then take the walk in the avenue of the heart. And there, all opportunities that exist for you have lined up.
It is not about avoiding that day, the day that you have to go. You can’t do that. It needs to be about every day that you’re alive, that you are enjoying being a human being, and that day, being alive for one minute will become worth it. That day, being alive for one second will become worth it. That day, your existence will bloom.
Your heart will dance; your shoulders will be high. You will wear a smile like you never have. This breath coming in and out, so far it’s working, I’m happy. All good! And if it’s not working, I’ve got issues. And I should be happy every time it works!
Do you realize, if we got happy every time we took a breath, how happy we would be? I mean, it’d be like, “Stop, wait, wait, I’ve got to be happy right now; I just took another breath!” A police officer pulls you over, “You know, you’ve been speeding!” “Excuse, just a minute. I need to be happy right now. I just took a breath!”
Wow, your life really would be very different. It would be incredibly different. Instead of lighting incense, and playing Spotify’s “Spa Music, Relaxing”.... Well, what is this, “Relaxing Music”? (Music to make you relaxed.)
I feel like dancing when I listen to some music. “Relax?” My friends, take away my problems, I will relax. You don’t have to play music for it. “Music to be peaceful by.” Really?
“Environment.” And what about the environment of this heart, of you? Welcoming the divine in your existence. Understanding the divine in your existence. You have a billion excuses. “Too busy. I have to work. I’m old!” And yeah, the same mouth, different excuses. These ears know that voice. These ears, (I’m talking about mine). I’ve heard ‘em; I have heard all kinds of excuses.
And the justifications will be necessary, till you fall in love being a human being. Everything will make sense; everything will come together. The value of breath will be understood. The clarity in your life will shine like the sun. And you will know what it is that it’s like to be alive.
The word “life” will take on a different meaning. It will not be the junctions of pain and sorrow, stepping-stones from one sorrow to another sorrow to another sorrow to another sorrow to another sorrow. Life truly should be the stepping-stones of one joy to another joy, to another joy, to another joy, to another joy.
The time has come for us to understand ourselves! As Socrates said, “Know thyself” a long time ago—and we still haven’t done it. The time has come to do that. The time has come to understand the Divine within us.
You are the container of divinity. You are so fortunate. You are so incredibly fortunate. Now, know it. Not believe it; know it. Know what I know, and then you will know what I am talking about.
I really, really wish you didn’t believe a word! Instead you went, “I’ve got to know!” And if you became like that in your life—“I’ve got to know!”—you will be so filled with peace, you won’t believe how much peace there will be in your life. And I use the world “believe,” but you don’t have to believe me. Know it for yourself.
